I was blonde for over 10 years and always identified myself as a blonde. I never thought one should change something for the sake of change alone and I loved my blonde hair so I never thought I would drastically change it, but on my birthday this year I decided I would do something different for the sake of change, and I´m happy with the decision. Yes, there are many costumes I have based on having blonde hair and many that I will most likely shelve away for the time being, but that´s ok. The red hair is inspiring a whole new closet of costume possibilities that I´m looking forward to! Batgirl, Mary Jane, and maybe Poison Ivy among the first. It was a bit difficult to go from platinum blonde to a red that didn´t turn out looking ridiculous, and it was a bit of a process. I first dyed my hair a dark golden blonde shade as a base. Otherwise, red dye just turns kinda pink on white blonde hair. After letting that settle in for a day or so I got the dark copper red permanent dye at Sally Beauty. I also used a protein filler treatment that helps porous hair like mine hold color. It´s kinda like primer for hair dye. I´m pretty sure it´s going to take a lot of upkeep and work to keep the red but I´m a really hair proud person so I´m up for the commitment. FAKE!
