And Now....THE FERRY!!

Yeah, I know it´s a grainy pic, but this was the best shot between the ones I took & Willie posted. And you can see there´s not that much to it. A raft with a shack stuck on the side for the motor & driver. But it does the job. And it carries on the tradition of being the oldest public ferry in the US. Another interesting fact I discovered while researching the hotel & ferry: The town of Whitehaven is supposed to have been founded by George Washington´s grandfather.

Here is a link to a Youtube video of the ferry...taken on a sunny day I might add, that shows more of the crossing, river, hotel & town in the background. The crossing is app. 5 miles up the Wicomico River from the Chesapeake Bay & the river connects the large city of Salisbury, Md with the bay. In it´s day, the river was an important commercial conduit for large cities & small towns with the rest of the world.

	and how many bikes were on this thing at 1 time....man just a little rough water and you could end up dropping a bike over the side...and dont you hate that when a website wont post
