The Fort Stockade

Just the thought of being put in this grim place, inside the walls, would be enough to keep anybody I know in line. I just came up for air and realized today is Friday? Some how, along about Tuesday, I lost a day!! I see MDF also lost about half my explanation of yesterday´s post. The part that disappeared some time during the day explained that the walls were composed of stone on the inside & outside. Inbetween was filled with rocks & dirt up to the top. The idea was to absorbe a cannon ball instead of having it bounce off to do damage elsewhere. Also the wide walls gave them a place to position their cannons & troops. I have shots from on top of the walls as we move into this series of pictures. For now, hope everyone has a great Friday & is looking forward to a happy weekend!!

I should explain, this plaque was on the left inside the door in yesterday´s post. A grim reminder as you enter the fort, that this was a place of war & meant for business.
