The Cleanup Begins
Happy Wynnsday to all. Finally MDF came back online so I can post just in time for Joke Day. This was the scene on my street Sunday morning as everyone began to cleanup their yards. The sun was out, not a cloud in the sky, and it was balmy & breezy. Other than the sound of chain saws echoing through the neighborhood, it could have been most any summer Sunday. The piles you see got to be about 3 times the size you see here by the end of the day. To put this in perspective, after the last big hurricane we had in 2003 this road was barely wide enough for a car to squeeze throgh the middle. The biles of sawed up trees & tree limbs lined the stree on both sides. About where I was standing to take this pic is where we brought all our picnic tables & gas grills to have a big community supper every night while the power was out. So WE were lucky, not nearly as much wind damage, but the hurricane managed to ravage 12 states up the Atlantic coast & kill over 40 people, so I wouldn´t exactly say it was "light".

Yes, we were fortunate to not have Irene come to the Gulf Coast. Now the east coast knows what we go through everytime a hurricane goes into the Gulf of Mexico. Of course, the ones we have are much worse than that cuddly Irene. lol Luckily, the east coast just got water. I do sympathize with ya´ll. |
