4/12/2011 I enjoyed the following story. I hope you do as well!

"A Dog´s Best Friend" "The Reader´s Digest"Sept.,1947 A Huge police dog was guiding a young lady wearing dark glasses across the lobby of a large Los Angeles hotel. She stopped a few feet from the desk, and stood there uncertainly until the clerk called, "This is the desk clerk, madam. May I help you?" Looking very relieved, she moved forward until the dog stopped with his nose a few inches from the desk. "I´d like a room, please," she said softly. "I´m sorry," the clerk said with genuine feeling, "but we do not allow animals in this hotel. Perhaps you could leave him with someone?" "I don´t know anyone here," she replied, "and besides, I need him with me." "Well," the clerk hesitated, "if you´d keep him in your room---" "Oh, I will," she said quickly. Later that night, I was surprised to meet her in the hall without the dog, and minus the dark glasses. "You´d probably think me an awful fraud," she laughed, "but I just had to get Bowser in somehow. I couldn´t leave him alone or with strangers. He´s a war veteran, you see, and he´s the one who´s blind." ---Contributed by Virginia Cooper
